Adorned Presence

3D-fabrication, free-motion machine embroidery. PLA filament, polyester thread, hair. 26in x 18in x 73in. 2021.

This facsimile of the artist’s body intervenes in and distorts the category of “migrant,” inscribing diasporic experience as a lived, embodied language. Presented as part of Personal Geographies, the 3D fabricated & embroidered work positions the body as both site and text of displacement. [Images by Chelsea Yang-Smith]
