Deviated Path

Digital print, stitching. Cotton, cotton-sateen, rope. 612in x 44in. 2021.

This patchwork path recombines digital reconstructions of 19th-century archival textiles that circulated through British-colonized spaces, creating a site for renegotiating cultural identity. The work invites reflection on shifting dynamics of labor between maker and end user across historical and contemporary contexts. Presented as part of Personal Geographies.  [Images by Chelsea Yang-Smith, Craft Ontario]
